Here's a highly recommended show that could slip by without your knowledge:

Chris Corsano, in town to play with Björk at V Fest on Saturday, will join Buffalo-based, Hallwalls presenter extraordinaire Steve Baczkowski for a duo performance early Sunday evening at the Southern Cross.

Chris Corsano (Massachusetts/Edinburgh, Scotland)
has gained a well-earned reputation as one of the hardest-working drummers around. Equally at home with intense kinetic explosions of energy and concentrated near-silence, he effortlessly flows from one idea to the next, always sympatico with his fellow musicians. He has recorded and gigged with, among others, Paul Flaherty, Mick Flower, Jessica Rylan, Evan Parker, Thurston Moore, Jim O'Rourke, Matt Heyner (No Neck Blues Band), Mick Flower, Nels Cline, Jandek, Björk, Six Organs of Admittance, Sunburned Hand Of Man, MV&EE, Keiji Haino, Vampire Belt and Joe McPhee.

Steve Baczkowski (Buffalo, NY)
is a baritone saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, improviser and composer as well as music director at Buffalo's Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center. Extracting every ounce of sonic possibilities from his instrument, he plays with a raw passion and energy colored by a mastery of overtones, multi-phonics, circular breathing, and considerable technical facility. In addition to his trio with Corsano and Paul Flaherty (as heard on The Dim Bulb CD in addition to a small slew of live shows over the years including a few quartets with Tony Conrad), Steve also can be heard in the Baczkowski/Ravi Padmanabha Duo, Buffalo Suicide Prevention Unit, Michael Hermanson's Nucleo Polyglot, Baczkowski/Will Redman Duo, 12/8 Path Band, Space Trio, Eulipion and Hylozoa.
