Free Concert Tonight! Latin-Jazz-Urban Supergroup!

What’s up y’all?

This is Jay, hitting you up from Justus League Records.

Hope your work week went well, but like Wyclef said, “Thank God it’s Friday!”  If you’re in Toronto and you’re available tonight, I’d like to invite you to an exciting free event guaranteed to kick your summer into gear.  Many of you know that Professor D, of the Dope Poet Society, has been making appearances with Brownman’s amazing Jazz-Hip Hop group, Gruvasylum.  Well, tonight for the first time, Professor D will be appearing as a member of Brownman’s 15 piece Latin-Jazz-Urban Orchestra, CRUZAO GRUPO MONSTRUOSO.  If you love REAL music, this is an incredible band that you do not want to miss.  This super group is stacked with Juno nominated and award winning musicians.  To hear these genres and styles masterfully orchestrated and interwoven with impressive freestyles and improvisation is a real treat.

Hope to see you tonight, the details are below.

Peace,

Jay

From Harbourfront's press release:

"BROWNMAN - born in Trinidad, schooled in NYC and now garnering international acclaim, this multi-award winning trumpeter/composer's remarkable talent for blending jazz elements with urban grooves and Latin rhythms is perhaps best exemplified by CRUZAO GRUPO MONSTRUOSO - a "super-sized" permutation of the original 5-man CRUZAO.  His unique 15 piece latin-jazz-urban orchestra features 6 horns, 3 percussionists, 2 bassists(!), 2 latin vocalists, 2 rappers and original orchestrations written by this National Jazz Composer of the Year (2002).  Brownman's intense style, rhythm, power and versatility for which he's known nation-wide are amplified by the Monstruoso, often affectionately called the "Monster" by it's member's and media.  MONSTRUOSO's monumental performances offer consistent evidence of the sheer breadth and wealth of Canada's jazz, latin and urban communities with the group stacked with Juno and National Jazz Award winners exemplified by thrilling performances that hold audiences enthralled when they are not spilling onto the dance floor. . .”
