ROXANNE POTVIN

ROXANNE POTVIN LAUNCHES
NEW CD WITH SPECIAL CONCERT
AT TORONTO'S RIVOLI THURSDAY MARCH 9

Roxanne Potvin, the 23-year-old singer and guitarist - who is "emigrating"
to Toronto from her home in Gatineau, Quebec - will launch her
star-studded sophomore CD, The Way It Feels, with a special concert at The
Rivoli, 332 Queen St. West, on Thursday March 9.
Adding a three-man horn section to her band for the occasion, she
will be presenting new material from the CD, which is due to hit the street
two days before the show. The album is on the Alert label, and is
distributed nationally by Universal Music.
Potvin is attracting a considerable street "buzz" about the CD, which
includes contributions from a wide range of players, including producer
Colin Linden, John Hiatt, Bruce Cockburn and members of the Fairfield Four
and the Memphis Horns. Eight of the songs on the CD were written by the
singer, who also plays electric and acoustic lead guitar; Potvin, who is
completely bilingual sings one song on the album - a duet in French - with
Daniel Lanois.
Her most recent performance in Toronto was as a special guest at the
Maple Blues Awards in January, when she was nominated as Female Singer of
the Year. Her music, however, covers a wide range of roots music styles and
genres.
